Dornoch | by Kevin Bernard

Kitchener man charged in Dornoch shooting to appear in Walkerton court today.

A Kitchener man charged with attempted murder in southern Grey county, will return to a Walkerton court today.

31 year old Christopher Nevius appeared in a Walkerton court Friday, August 3rd, where he was remanded in custody for his next video appearance.

On July 26th, West Grey police went to a home east of Dornoch where a man had been shot.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and then airlifted to another hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

West Grey Police with the help of OPP emergency response teams, contained the area where it was believed the suspect would be.

The police investigation identified the suspect in the shooting as Nevius.

With that information, the West Grey Police Criminal Investigations Bureau partnered with Waterloo Regional Police and located Nevius in the Bloomingdale Road South area of Kitchener.

The Waterloo Regional Police Emergency Response Team executed a high-risk arrest in Kitchener.

Officers seized three loaded handguns, rounds of ammunition, a large quantity of cash and suspected methamphetamine and pills.

Nevius was arrested for one count of attempted murder and one count of discharging a firearm with intent.

West Grey Police Constable Cory Trainor says the suspect and victim apparently know each other.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the West Grey Police at 519-371-6911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
