Michael McLeod had a goal and 4 points as the Steelheads took game 1 of the best of 7 for the Bobby Orr Trophy.
Spencer Watson scored twice for Mississauga while Ryan McLeod and Owen Tippett also scored in the victory.
Matthew Mancina who played for the Petes last year, made 27 saves in goal to post the win.
Semyon Der-Arguchintsev, Steven Lorentz and Nikita Korostelev scored for the Petes who dropped their first game of the post season.
Game 2 is Saturday night in Peterborough.
