Owen Sound native John Christie began broadcasting in 1967, while still a high school student, when he joined CFOS as a part-time weekend and summer relief announcer. Upon graduation the following year, he became a full-time staffer, working on-air and as a copywriter and producer. 1971 saw a move to Kitchener/Waterloo, where a stay at a pair of AM/FM stations resulted in an eventual appointment as copy-chief. After two and half years it was on to London, serving there as senior copywriter, promotions co-ordinator, and program researcher/producer. John returned to the Georgian Bay region in 1983, working full-time in the transportation industry, but retaining a freelance relationship with radio. He re-joined Bayshore Broadcasting in 2004, and now serves as host of Remember When on CFOS, and host of the Hall of Fame on Country 93. Now semi-retired, John has served as a two-term Owen Sound City Councillor, and has co-written two books. He lives with wife Carol in Owen Sound.
