Fire crews are watching for hotspots at the scene of a chalet fire at the bottom of Blue Mountain, in the north end.
The blaze broke out just after 11 o’clock this morning on Ann Heggtveit Drive, off Jozo Weider Boulevard.
Blue Mountains Interim Fire Chief Steve Conn confirms that a firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after falling off a ladder.
He says the homeowner was on the property doing odd jobs when he noticed smoke and called 9-1-1. He was not hurt.
The fire completely destroyed the home, which was recently sold, and the chief says the damage estimate is $800,000 to a million dollars.
The fire marshal’s office has been called in.
