Citizen Paul Lewko wants a delay in the construction of Cedar Crescent Village, or CCV, until at least the fall.
Lewko was speaking to Saugeen Shores Committee of the Whole.
Lewko doesn’t believe the municipality has looked at all the issues that he believes will come with CCV.
He wonders if there will be sufficient parking and access to the beach for residents and visitors combined.
In addition, he says: “We have to do everything we can to allow the businesses presently at the main beach to survive. They suffered through Covid; they suffered through the construction in 2020 (and) I think it’s only reasonable to ask for that extension (to the Fall).”
Councillor Dave Myette wonders if there is another agenda stating he thinks the request is to delay everything until 2022 which is “an election year.”
Lewko says it’s not about delaying the development just for the sense of doing so.
Lewko suggests it’s about “making decisions in the right order.”
Lewko’s detailed presentation will be forwarded to staff to take into account as they move closer to going forward.
