The community is rallying to support a woman left with serious injuries in a recent collision on the Sunset Strip just outside of Owen Sound.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for Ethil McCrabb, one of the drivers injured in a multi-vehicle crash at an intersection along 10th Street West near McDonald’s restaurant on April 23.
The vehicle McCrabb was driving was struck from behind by a transport truck travelling a high rate of speed as she approached a red light to stop, according to the page started by her son Matthew McLeod. The collision forced McCrabb’s vehicle into another SUV stopped at the light, and pushed them through the intersection.
McCrabb was airlifted to a London hospital and remains in intensive care due to injuries sustained in the incident.
Provincial Police charged the 60-year-old driver of the transport truck with several offences, including driving while impaired, driving causing bodily harm, failing to comply with demand, and possession of a substance.
The fundraiser aims to help with the loss of income and any related expenses incurred that are not covered by insurance.
On the GoFundMe page, McLeod says: “We have a long road ahead of us, but through perseverance, determination, our collective strength, and love; she will get through this. She’s a Fighter.”
As of Saturday morning, more than $24,000 in donations had already poured in.
