We’re likely to see more off-road vehicles about as the nicer weather settles in.
At a recent Kincardine Committee of the Whole meeting, OPP presented the latest information of off road vehicles (ORV) and Sgt. Gord Keen says as of right now, all off-road vehicles are allowed on Kincardine municipal roadways, unless council enacts a bylaw to prohibit them.
All those on the off-road vehicles must be wearing a helmet and if so equipped, seatbelts must be worn as well.
Keen says it’s not an “either-or” situation; both must be worn if available.
Deputy Mayor Randy Roppel says there’s another issue–golf carts on the roadways.
OPP’s Gord Keen says golf carts don’t meet the safety standards to be on roadways and are not allowed.
Keen, in his presentation says in Ontario almost 42% of all ORV collisions occur on Highways while almost 38% happen on municipal and township roads.
