The Tom Thomson Art Gallery is announcing its reopening for this week.
Set for July 21, the gallery will be premiering with a staff-curated exhibition titled The Nature Of It, featuring works from a wide range of artists that have been added to the collection.
Gallery Director and Chief Curator Aidan Ware says despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, they have been busy in both re-visioning their future through the development of a new strategic plan and with enhancing the gallery’s physical spaces through renovation projects.
“In May, the galleries underwent a flooring replacement and we also took the opportunity to refresh our Gallery Shop. The revitalized public spaces, along with out new vision, values and plans, has set the stage for a new and vibrant chapter for the Tom Thomson Art Gallery. We hope it’s out pleasure to welcome you for many days to come as we move past this unprecedented time,” says Ware.
Owen Sound Mayor Ian Boddy says he is thrilled to be able to visit the TOM again in person.
“Looking forward to seeing works by Grey County Artist George McLean, and exploring other works from the collection,” says Boddy.
