We’re almost at the traditional half-way mark of the summer tourist season and according to South Bruce Peninsula Mayor Janice Jackson, Sauble Beach has been “booming so far this year.”
Jackson says parking is maxed and they sold a tremendous amount of season passes.
She says, “the increase in the rates ($30 a day) hasn’t seemed to bother anybody.”
Sauble Beach has increased the number of parking spots at the north end of the beach where it used to be parallel parking and is now angle parking, like the rest of the beach.
Jackson suggests the stores and services are having a good summer, as people, fed up with Covid restrictions are scrambling to get out of the urban centres to have fun at the beach.
The business is steady in the area as we approach the Civic Holiday long weekend.
