The Bruce County Public Library is updating its online catalogue system to make searching and reserving titles simpler.
As of Dec. 29 the library moved to a new system using a Toronto-based company, Bibliocommons.
The new system features a smart search, which recognizes common search terms like movies or new books. It will automatically apply the filters to find the books you need.
Users will also be able to create and share their lists, as well as rate of comment on anything in the catalogue, while following other users and personalize their newsfeed.
Library Director Brooke McLean says the new online catalogue is the first step in improving their virtual branch for patrons, as outlined in their strategic plan.
“With the transition to our new catalogue, Bruce County Public Library cardholders now have access to the premiere online discovery layer for public libraries across North America. We are excited to join the growing list of top libraries as we move into the changing online landscape of the 21st century,” says McLean.
Residents can visit the Bruce County website to register their account.
