Seasons Owen Sound is supporting community food banks through its annual company-wide challenge.
Seasons Owen Sound says every year, its communities in Ontario and Alberta come together to make a positive impact in the communities they operate in.
From July 4 to the 15, Seasons Owen Sound hosted its annual One Can Make a Difference challenge to collect the most canned and non-perishable food items for their local food bank.
Seasons communities across Canada were able to raise more than 5,500 cans and a combined total of $42,000 for Food Banks Canada.
Seasons says some of their top community donors include those in Clarington with 1,287 cans, Brantford with 931 cans, Strathroy with 659 cans, and Dufferin with 516 cans.
General Manager at Seasons Retirement Communities in Owen Sound Polly Kirstine says as residents of the Owen Sound community, they are committed to working with The Salvation Army Family Services and Food Bank to address the prevalent problem of food insecurity among older adults.
“The Seasons’ One Can Corporate Challenge reinforces our goal to uplift the communities our residents and team members call home and do our part to address hunger,” says Kirstine.
Seasons says since 2016, its communities have partnered with Food Banks Canada for its corporate giving initiatives. To date, Seasons has donated more than $222,000 in funds and food to local food banks.
