Bruce County Council received an update from the Saugeen Children’s Safety Village.
Vice President Al Leach made a presentation to council this week sharing new features for the Safety Village.
Their Fire Classroom Program helps teach children how to stop, drop, and roll, as well as safely escape from a bedroom window in the event of a fire.
They also teach farm safety, complete with child-size farm equipment.
The Safety Village’s Super Safety Days in July had 178 children registered, and they were able to teach fire safety to children with disabilities as well.
They’re hoping to expand their program this fall, and branch out into senior safety training with the fire department.
