The 2023 FIS Ski Cross World Cup Finals are coming to the Craigleith Ski Club, in the Town of Blue Mountain.
The event is scheduled to start with qualification races on Thursday March 16th followed by 2 days of international Ski Cross competition.
Jeff Thompson is the Vice President Domestic Sport Programs & Events with Alpine Canada.
He spoke to Fred Wallace and gave an outline of the competition ahead.

The men’s and women’s leaders in World Cup points will the awarded the Crystal Globe and the leading country will capture the Nations Cup. The event is free and open to the public for viewing.

Cup standings and is in line to win his second Crystal Globe. Marielle Thompson is second in the women’s standings, and as a country, Canada is in a tight battle to win it’s record setting 10th ski cross
Nations Cup as the leading country in World Cup points for the season.”
“Ski cross is incredibly exciting to watch,” added Thompson. “We are looking forward to tight racing, to hosting athletes from around the world, and to welcoming fans from across the region.”
Other Canadians to highlight include Hannah and Jared Schmidt from North Bay who will be racing in front of friends and family. And of course, local boy Kris Mahler will be a crowd favourite as he races for
the podium.
The adrenaline-pumping action runs March 16-18, 2023, and includes qualifications on the 16th, a World Cup race on Friday the 17th and concludes with the World Cup Finals race on Saturday the 18th
.
Thursday’s qualifications start at 10:45 with racing starting at 12pm on Friday and Saturday.
