Some police services in Grey Bruce have lowered their flags to half mast after an OPP officer was killed, and two others injured in an early morning shooting in the Ottawa area.
Hanover police say they have lowered their flag, adding, “HPS offers our sincerest condolences to the O.P.P., the grieving family & friends of an officer who was killed overnight while protecting their community. We also pray for the full recovery of two other officers who remain in hospital with gunshot wounds.”
It happened in the rural community of Bourget, about 50kms from Ottawa – after someone had reported hearing a gunshot just after 2 this morning.
Provincial Police say OPP Sgt Eric Mueller was shot and killed after he and two other officers arrived at a home.
One person has been taken into custody.
Owen Sound police say it’s, “A tragic outcome in the policing community.”
West Grey police called it, “Another senseless murder of a police officer.”
Saugeen Shores police say, their thoughts are with the members of the OPP, their families and communities.
