Meaford is undergoing scans of its sidewalk and roads over May and June to identify areas with needed repairs.
The municipality says it has partnered with StreetScan, a Montreal-based company which has assessed streets in over 100 communities across North America, to bring its scooter-mounted and vehicle-mounted sensing technology to assess local sidewalks and roads.
The system determines the health of each sidewalk and road by identifying defects. These include potholes, bumps, tripping hazards, and cracking.
Meaford adds the data will assist in identifying and prioritizing where repairs are needed.
