The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation is holding a casino night fundraiser.
It’s set to go Saturday, May 27th at the Coliseum in Southampton, and will have professional gaming tables including roulette, poker, crown and anchor, and blackjack.
The foundation’s website says there will be music, dancing, socializing, local food, local craft beer and and prizes.
There will also be a photo booth, 50/50 draw and a bottle pull. A bottle pull game involves choosing a bottle from a group of bottles of wine, for example, all of which are concealed, so the person choosing does not know what they’re selecting.
$45 admission includes $20 play money for the casino. The website says, “Trade your play money in at the end of the night for ballots which you can use to enter into all the grand prize draws. The more play money you win, the more chances you have to win an amazing prize. Additional Play Money will be available to purchase at the event.”
The hospital foundation says it needs to raise $2 million annually in order to keep up with the purchase of priority equipment for its local and regional hospitals.
The government generally doesn’t fund hospital equipment. Communities raise money for the purchase of many important hospital tools.
The casino night is part of the foundation’s spring fling campaign. It says money raised will go to the purchase of an infant warmer, which is used when a baby is born in the ER or when an infant or toddler need resuscitation or emergent care. It also plans to buy a CPR compression machine for Southampton’s ER.
