The Town of Saugeen Shores is flying its rainbow flag just before Pride Month starts in June.
A ceremony was held this morning outside the town’s municipal office with Mayor Luke Charbonneau in attendance, along with Saugeen Shores Police Chief Kevin Zettel and Fire Chief Ed Melanson, as well as with representatives from Grey Bruce Pride.
Charbonneau says as Saugeen Shores grows in size, it grows in diversity, which makes the community stronger.
“By raising this flag, we are telling everyone that no matter who you love, you are welcome in the Town of Saugeen Shores,” says Charbonneau.
The flag raising follows council’s Welcoming Communities Action Plan, which aims to ensure people from a wide range of groups feels a sense of belonging in the community.
