The City of Owen Sound is unveiling a newly renovated Heritage Cabin for camping at Harrison Park.
A release from the City says the cabin offers a brand-new camping experience at Harrison Park Family Campground for the summer 2023 season.
It says, “The heritage building formerly known as “The Kitchen” underwent interior renovations and now offers a premium campground experience. ”
The building has exposed stone walls, two stylishly appointed bedrooms, a pullout couch and an updated kitchen with a table that seats six. Outside, there is a fire pit and a charcoal camp barbecue.
Reservations are available for Sunday-Sunday, seven-day rentals or in three-day bookings until October 8, 2023.
A one-week rental costs $1,435. The cabin is also available in 3-night blocks at a nightly cost of $210.
The maximum number of guests is 6 people.
The Heritage Cabin provides campers with an alternative option to the existing 97 campsites already located in Harrison Park. This new rental opportunity also generates revenue to support the upkeep of the building and serves as a trial for a cabin rental business model at Harrison Park.

Mayor Ian Boddy says in a statement, “The renovation of the former ‘Kitchen’ at Harrison Park Campground has turned an underutilized heritage building into a beautiful, family-friendly, premium camping experience. We hope that visitors will enjoy all the fantastic amenities and the natural beauty that Harrison Park has to offer.”
Cabin amenities include:
· Two double beds and a double pull-out sofa.
· Electricity, microwave, coffeemaker, fridge, sink, range top, fire extinguisher, dustpan, broom, small dining table with six chairs, and flashlight. A small number of dishes and cooking items are also provided. A charcoal camp BBQ is supplied adjacent to the cabin as well as a firepit with outdoor amenity space.
· Renters are required to bring their own bedding (including pillows) and may want to bring additional cookware, depending on preference.
· Washrooms with showers are located within walking distance.
