The Municipality of Kincardine is going to be ushering in the holiday season, and celebrating the reopening of Queen Street this evening with their Hometown Christmas celebrations.
Community Economic Development Coordinator Cherie Leslie says “To reopen the street we have beautiful new sidewalks, and most of the businesses are participating, having beautiful window displays and just a celebration that things are returning to normal.”
The combined celebration will have festive holiday window displays, local shops open later this evening, and Santa and Mrs Claus, and Downtown Dig Mascot Blinkie will be there too to take pictures with the kids.
Families can participate in sleigh rides, horse rides, and a petting zoo.
There are also events for grownups at the north end happening as well.
Festivities start a 5 o’clock with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 at the entrance to Victoria Park.
Celebrations will be taking place along the length of Queen Street from Durham Market Square South, all the way to just south of the Circle K at 960 Queen Street.
Finishing touches for the Downtown Dig will be completed in the spring, with the addition of new planters, trees, and benches.
