The Port Elgin Santa Claus Parade is set to go Saturday evening.
The parade along Goderich Street is expected to begin at 7 p.m. There will be temporary closures on Market Street and Goderich Street.
The Southampton Santa Claus Parade is scheduled for Friday, December 1st at 7 p.m.
The United Way of Bruce Grey is also holding a sock drive during the parade. You’re encouraged to bring new socks to donate.
There are a number of other holiday events and drives in the community.
There is a First Responders holiday food and toy drive December 9th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Vanderwerf’s Your Independent Grocer, Port Elgin Canadian Tire, Port Elgin Walmart and Southampton Foodland. They’re looking for cereal, pasta, kraft dinner, pork and beans canned goods, peanut butter, cookies, crackers and toilet paper. They’re also accepting donations of warm blankets for community paramedic patients.
There is a Saugeen Shores Business After Hours Toy Drive December 14th from 5-7 p.m. at the Port Elgin Curling Club.
The Southampton Concert Band’s ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas is scheduled for December 16 at 3p.m. at the Southampton Town Hall. Elaine Slade. It’s a pay what you can event.
