The City of Owen Sound is urging everyone to take precautions and protect themselves from extreme cold temperatures.
The city is advising to dress in layers and to protect exposed skin, to keep moving to maintain body heat, and to watch for signs of windburn, frostbite, and hypothermia.
It’s also recommended that you regularly check on elderly neighbours, and help with tasks like shoveling snow, getting groceries and supplies, and making sure heating systems are working correctly.
They also have warming stations to help anyone caught out in the cold.
Warming stations are located at the Owen Sound Library, the Bayshore Community Centre, City Hall, Safe n’ Sound, and the YMCA.
The city says that anyone who needs help in getting emergency shelter can call 211.
