OPP are now confirming remains found in the Southampton Harbour are those of Brendan Martin.
Martin had been reported missing from the Southampton area January 20th.
Saugeen Shores police searched for him and appealed to the community for information before the investigation.
On March 16th, a search led by Martin’s family and supported by a local group called Please Bring Me Home and Saugeen Shores Police located his remains. Both family and Please Bring Me Home stated they had found Martin at that time.
Now, ten days later, OPP have officially confirmed that information, following a postmortem examination conducted at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
They note the Saugeen Shores Police Criminal Investigations and Drug Unit, the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit, OPP USAR CBRNE Response Team (UCRT) and the OPP Forensic Identification Services assisted with the recovery.
Police say the joint investigation is continuing by the Saugeen Shores Police and the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
