The Attack season will be on the line Thursday.
Sam O’Reilly scored twice, including the game-winner 7:21 into the third period, to help the London Knights to a 7-4 win over the Owen Sound Attack in Game 3 of the Ontario Hockey League Western Conference quarterfinal series Tuesday evening at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
O’Reilly finished with four points. Easton Cowan also scored a pair, and Denver Barkey, Sam Dickinson and Jared Woolley added singles for the Knights, which took a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Ben Cormier, Landen Hookey, Tristan Delisle and Declan Waddick scored for the Attack.
It was 4-4 after two periods, and O’Reilly put the Knights ahead just over seven minutes into the third — finding space right near the crease and taking a pass from down low from Cowan and quickly putting it in.
Woolley beat Carter George with a high wrist shot with 4:08 remaining to give the Knights a two-goal cushion. Then Cowan would add an empty-netter.
Austin Elliott made 18 saves in the win, while George stopped 32 taking the loss. The Knights outshot the Attack 39-22 while going 0 for 1 on the power play; Owen Sound finished 1 for 6, and allowed two shorthanded goals against.
Game 4 goes Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound.
