A Bruce County trail property will close temporarily next month.
Bruce County officials advise the Bruce County Brant Tract, located southeast of Paisley, will be closed as of Feb. 7 to allow for forest harvesting operations.
The closure will last for about six weeks.
“Bruce County, with contractor Moggie Valley, will be harvesting timber in this area to improve forest health as part of the County’s Forest Management Plan,” a release from the county explains. “To ensure that everyone will be safe and out of harm’s way, the entire property, inclusive of the parking lot, East and West Forest Access Roads, and the trail network, will be closed to the public until further notice.”
The Brant Tract property is located between Concession 12 and the Brant-Elderslie Townline, east of Bruce Road 3, within the Municipality of Brockton.
The only motorized vehicle traffic permitted on this property are snowmobiles. A release from Bruce County says The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) has been notified about the closure.
“A detour has been created, so this closure will not be a disruption to the members of the Saugeen Snowmobile Club, the Chesley & District Easy Riders, or any other OFSC members using the trails in this portion of District 9,” the county says in a statement.
