A West Grey man has been arrested for attempted murder after a shooting in Hanover.
Police say on Aug. 9 around 12:45 p.m., officers responded to the Hanover and District Hospital following a report of a man in the emergency department, who was being treated for a gunshot wound.
Police say with the support of officers from the West Grey Police, they began an intensive investigation which included the assistance of an OPP Forensic Identification Unit.
Police say on Aug. 12, a warrant was obtained for the arrest of a man from West Grey.
A province-wide alert was issued to all police services in Ontario to be on the lookout for the suspect and the vehicle he was believed to be driving.
As a result, police say the 30-year-old suspect, Brandon Boettinger was located and arrested in nation’s capital on the evening of Aug. 13 at gun-point by members of the Ottawa Police Service.
Boettinger will be escorted back to Hanover to face charges that include attempted murder of a 29-year-old Hanover man.
Deputy Chief George Hebblethwaite says the Hanover Police thank their policing partners in West Grey, the OPP, and Ottawa for their work in bringing this phase of the investigation to a safe conclusion.
“While an arrest has been made, the investigation continues and anyone with information about this shooting is asked to contact the Hanover Police Service or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477,” says Hebblethwaite.
