Northern Bruce Peninsula council is bringing on a consultant for its water and wastewater master plan for Tobermory and Lion’s Head.
During a council meeting on Aug. 22, a report was brought forward by Public Works Manager Troy Cameron. It recommended council award the engineering consulting services to WSP Canada for $212,000.
The municipality’s chief administrative officer Peggy Van Mierlo-West says having the plan provides a stepped approach for future servicing in the municipality, as well as growth.
“It also provides us with financial plans regarding the sustainability of what we currently have, and what, if we decide to, what we would be looking at regarding costs for future growth,” says Van Mierlo-West.
She adds this builds upon the plans crafted several years ago.
“So these are going to take these plans, update them, and then also look at items such as where we have potential development in the area and what partnerships we could potentially collaborate with,” says Mierlo-West.
This follows a Feb. 14 council meeting when authorization was given to the Ontario Clean Water Agency for the project management of a water and wastewater master servicing plan for both Tobermory and Lion’s head.
