Wednesday is International Overdose Awareness Day.
The Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce, Public Health, and the Community Drug and Alcohol Strategy are hosting a number of events in Grey Bruce on August 31st to mark the day, and reflect on the phrase, “A time to Remember. A time to Act.”
On Wednesday, a community barbecue is scheduled for 12-3 p.m. at Safe N’ Sound in Owen Sound (310 8th Street East).
From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. the M’Wikwedong Indigenous Friendship Centre is hosting a barbecue and memorial sacred fire at 1045 3rd Ave West in Owen Sound.
There are a few candlelight vigils in the evening. There is one in the farmer’s market parking lot in Owen Sound from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
There will also be a vigil at Hope Community Church in Hanover from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. (Aug 31).
There is a vigil planned in Port Elgin from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Coulter Parkette (538 Green Street)
Today (Monday Aug 30th) there is a barbecue and a day to remember and reflect being held at the Kina Waa Noojmojig Nanaweing Wellness Pavilion in Neyaashiinigmiing (376 Sydney Bay Road). The gathering goes until about sunset.
