No one was injured in a house fire on East Bayshore Road just outside of Owen Sound Tuesday.
Inter Township Fire Department Chief Jeff Gautreau says they were called after a neighbour reported smoke coming from a garage of a house just before 2 p.m.
He described “fairly extensive damage,” to other parts of the house from smoke and heat. He says no people or pets were in the house at the time.
Firefighters from the Inter Township department, Meaford and Owen Sound responded. Gautreau says there were about 40 firefighters and about 11 fire trucks at the scene as well as paramedics and OPP. The road was kept open during the response.
Crews were on site for about four hours.
Gautreau says the cause of the blaze has not yet been determined and there is no damage estimate at this time.
