A tornado has been confirmed to have hit Thornbury in Friday’s stormy weather.
Environment Canada says the Northern Tornadoes Project gave its preliminary report of the weather event this morning.
They say the tornado followed a path through Thronbury before entering Georgian Bay.
The tornado has been given a preliminary rating of EF0 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale with estimated maximum wind speeds of 130km/h and a path length of 3 kms.
They say the tornado damaged trees, a hydro pole and a street lamp.
Friday afternoon saw tornado warnings for Grey and Bruce counties before narrowing down to eastern Grey County, Simcoe and Dufferin.
There were severe thunderstorms in some locations, reports of golf ball sized hail and strong winds.
