Huron-Kinloss has hired a new fire chief.
The township announced Shane Watson will be assuming the role, effective Oct. 30.
“Shane brings 10 years’ experience in the fire service as a volunteer firefighter and has spent the previous five years as a fire prevention officer and community emergency management coordinator in the municipal sector. Overall, Shane brings the experience, education and professionalism that make him an asset for our fire and emergency services,” says Huron-Kinloss Mayor Don Murray.
Watson says he’s looking forward to the opportunity.
“This is an honour and a privilege to serve the citizens of Huron-Kinloss as fire chief, having been a member of this community for years,” he says in a prepared statement. “Strengthening the overall safety of our community is always the priority and with the strong dedication from our administration, first responders, council, and community, we will be there from prevention through to recovery for any situation that may arise.”
The township’s fire chief position became vacant last month, when Chris Cleave resigned after eight years as a member of the Huron-Kinloss fire department.
