A seven-year-old boy has raised over $5,000 in support of Grey-Bruce Hospice.
Coen Rier, a student at Arran Tara Elementary School appeared on the 560 CFOS Morning Show on Dec. 12 to talk about how he took $1 and turned it into $5,400.
Coen started fundraising after his teacher gave him $1 and told him to do something nice with it.
He took the money and bought markers and proceeded to draw various pictures.
“I drew pictures for people that want them, and how much money I got I sell to the hospice,” says Coen.
The funds he raised will be donated to the Chapman House in Owen Sound.
Coen’s mother Kayla says they had no idea how well her son’s project was going to turn out.
“We are so overwhelmed, we are so proud of him, we had not idea and just the support, especially locally for this little boy that they don’t even know, we are overwhelmed and so grateful,” says Kayla.
She says anyone who wants to support Coen’s donation to the Chapman House can email her at kaylarier@gmail.com.
“We are tallying all of the proceeds and that will be sent to Chapman House next week,” says Kayla.
