No one was injured in a duplex fire early this morning in Chatsworth.
Chatsworth Fire Chief Mike Givens says firefighters were called to a duplex on Crawford Street around 1 a.m.
Five people were inside the two units. He says the fire was mainly on the upper part of the duplex, affecting the attic and roof.
“It appears to have started near the dividing wall between the two units, so it did get into both units. The upper levels were both full of smoke when we arrived,” says Givens. “It’s got very extensive damage to it.”
He says an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze. But the OPP say the fire isn’t considered suspicious.
There’s no damage estimate available yet.
More than a dozen firefighters from the Chatsworth Fire Department responded. The Inter-township fire department assisted. Paramedics and police were also called to the scene.
Givens says the scene was cleared just after 7 a.m. this morning.
