Meaford is adopting its 2024 budget, which comes with an expected 2.8 per cent tax rate increase.
Council approved the budget after a lengthy process during its meeting on Feb. 26.
Interim CAO Matt Smith says the expected tax rate increase has yet to be finalized as a by-law to approve it is anticipated to come back to council in April.
Meaford must first wait for Grey County to set the tax ratio by-law to finalize individual tax bills before homeowners will find out how much more they will be paying.
Smith says, however, they plan to announce an update soon.
In the meantime, Meaford can look forward to several capital projects coming to the municipality included in the over $17.5 million capital budget.
One of the many projects Meaford will be carrying over to this year includes the $1.2 million project for the Bayshore Road rehabilitation and water service replacement.
Work is also continuing on a $1.6 million bridge replacement project, a $2.4 million project to expand the wastewater treatment plant, and $4.4 million to reconstruct Lakeshore Drive and Algonquin Drive.
There are also a number of new projects, including $130,000 for work at the Meaford and St. Vincent Community Centre, and almost $3 million worth of road resurfacing and rehabilitation projects.
