The 46th annual Summerfolk music festival is set to go this weekend, and this year will be like no other.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, smaller concerts will be held in 18 different locations around Owen Sound.
It’s traditionally held at Kelso Beach Park and alongside a number of stages, there are normally food stands and craft artisan craft tents. The artisan craft component of the festival will not be part of Summerfolk this year.
Performers include Chantal Kraviazuk, Danny Michel, Coco Love Alcorn, Crystal Shawanda, David Sereda and many others.
Locations include a number of backyard stages, Harrison Park, Kelso Beach Park, The Harmony Centre, St. George’s Hall, The Roxy Theatre and Heartwood Concert Hall. The weekend afternoon shows take place from 1p.m. until 4 p.m.
Tickets are $50 for the afternoon concerts and include access to the evening livestream show.
Friday kicks off the festival off at the Roxy theatre with a special evening with Larry Jensen featuring Tyler Beckett and Tyler Wagler & Morgan X Barrie.
It’s looking like nice weather for the weekend festival. Environment Canada’s Saturday forecast is sunny and 30 (humidex 39). Sunday’s forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 26.
